Could cannabis be a wonder drug for women? Now those of you who read my blog posts know I do a ton of research. (My mom always said I should be a private investigator because I can find or find out just about anything) What I’ve been finding out lately is how cannabis helps with a lot of different diseases. It will not cure any disease but it can help manage some of the symptoms of said disease. Cannabis can help with a lot of different women’s medical issues. You already know it helps ease pain and inflammation and helps relieve anxiety. Here are some other ways it’s helping us women out.
According to Samantha Coogan, MS, RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Holistic Cannabis Practitioner in Las Vegas) in treating cancer pain and relief from nausea, it is when both CBD and THC are combined together that they can offer an effective way to treat pain. CBD has been shown to be extremely helpful in relieving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and Crohns.
One of my favorites too look forward to – menopause. It’s those horror stories that get to me; the ones where the women have those sleeplessness nights and they have intense hot flashes. Hello Again, a woman owned company, specializes in vaginal THC suppositories to treat menopause symptoms, such as the dreaded sleeplessness and those awful hot flashes! Hello Again’s Co-founder Carrie Mapes credit’s the entourage effect – using full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes and other natural compounds that occur in the cannabis plant; this suggests sleep balance and regulation of body temperature may arise.
Studies have shown that when CBD and THC are used together, they are also an effective treatment for Fibromyalgia. In 2019, a study was completed that looked at the effects of Bediol, a drug that contains both CBD and THC, in people with fibromyalgia. More people who took Bediol reported 30% decrease in pain. The study failed to isolate which one, CBD or THC, had the most effect. With so many different studies and research teams, CBD has had most positive reviews than negative ones. I am convinced that these two compounds must work together to bring about relief for so many who suffer through pain and inflammation.
