I will go ahead and say I went into writing this with an open mind; that’s one of the key things to being a great writer. Not in any way am I saying I am a great writer, but I stive for it and that means keeping an open mind. Among other things. With that being said, I wanted to give Kratom a try for myself but after all the reading and searching, searching and reading, I could not “give it a try.” For every one thing I found good about it, I would find three things bad. So what is Kratom?
Kratom is a tropical tree and it’s leaves have been used in Thai botanical medicine throughout Southeast Asia, where this tree originates. It has gotten so popular over the last recent years that the federal government is starting to pay attention. It is still legal; but just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s safe for you. Believe it or not, this plant has about 40 different compounds. Two in particular, Mitragynine (MG) and 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-HMG). Similar to how CBD and THC interact, MG seems to be more therapeutic, 7-HMG appears to have the psychoactive properties. While the MG is more dominant, the 7-HMG acts on the brain’s receptors like opioids, which is why the FEDS are sitting up and taking notice. It is still legal in most states and many people are using Kratom to help with the relief of arthritis pain and fibrogmyalgia.
If you read this blog regularly, thank you, then you know I am a firm believer in CBD. I use it every single day for the constant pain in my shoulder. You can use both CBD and Kratom to manage pain, anxiety, insomnia but that is really the only way these two are similar. CBD uses the Endocannabinoid system, which consists of receptors involved with making sure our bodies are always in balance or homeostasis. Kratom can provide acute pain relief, opiate withdrawal symptoms and improve focus. CBD offers greater benefits for conditions requring long term use; such as insomnia, anxiety and depression, to name a few.
As far as pain goes, CBD is the better product. Truthfully, as far as sleep and anxiety, CBD was much better helping to ease the symptoms. CBD was found to be the better product when it came to sleep and as well because of the way CBD is processed inside the body. CBD can be used with long term conditions because of the way it works within the body. Kratom is not recommended for long term use at all because it not only had the potential to be addictive but because of the damage it can do to the body. As with anything, we always recommend that you talk to your doctor or health care professional before starting something new or if you start taking something else others than your prescribed medications.
One of my regularg customer just recently stopped using Kratom because of the issues she was hav
