Ah, the wintertime. Later sunrises and earlier sunsets. It also means cold and flu season. With the outbreak with COVID these past two years, more and more people are getting the flu vaccination and taking extra precautions. Not only does this mean getting vaccinations and OTC cold & flu medications, it means adding CBD to you wellness routine.
Colds can come on suddenly – sometimes starting with a stuffy nose or sore throat from your sinuses draining. That’s always no fun. But did you know CBD oil can give your body that extra kick your immune system needs? Inflammation of the mucous membranes in the nose, sinuses and throat is a good indication you are getting a cold. When your mucous membranes become inflamed, they swell and a lot of mucous is secreted. Getting a cold is pretty harmless and is over within a few days, but if you have a fever, are lethargic and ache all over, you could have the flu. Again, no fun.
Since there is no cure for the common cold, most will stick to over the counter medication. CBD oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help with the symptoms of the common cold. Coughing is the body’s way of getting rid of certain particles and excess mucous but it can also cause your throat to be sore in the process. CBD oil can help with the pesky irritation coughing can cause as well. CBD also has antiviral properties that help protect the growth of those nasty viruses. Taking CBD oil on a regular basis can help your immune system stay in great shape since it has the potential to boost it if it is not active enough.
Keep in mind that CBD is not a cure all or an official medicine but it can be a natural source to help fight the common cold more easily. Getting adequate rest and eating healthy are great ways to keep your immune system from being run down. Also make sure you are taking a multi vitamin and eating fruits and veggies. For some people, fruits and veggies aren’t on the menu. You can always try some CBD oatmeal or even CBD coffee!
