Will CBD interact with your daily medications?

CBD as we all know has become very popular across the United States. There are so many thing that CBD can help with. However, there are some medications you may take that can interact with oral CBD. CBD is cannabidiol which is an active ingredient in cannabis that is taken from a hemp plant. CBD does not get you high. For most, CBD is very well tolerated, but it does have some effects, so you may want to check with your doctor about before using it.

CBD is taken by many due to it being used to help with things such as chronic pain, migraines, epilepsy, autoimmune disease, inflammation, depression, anxiety, and more. CBD is known to interact with some medications you may take. Medications that can interact with CBD are opioids, propoxyphene, morphine, buprenorphine, blood thinners, blood pressure, blood sugar, and more. CBD can affect the metabolization in you liver by increasing the level of other drugs in the liver which can result in a negative effect. If you take CBD in high doses with medication it can increase your sedation with the medication.

It does not matter if you are taking a broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD. Using a CBD cream or lotion on the skin and is only absorbed it the first few layers of your skin so it is less likely to get into your blood stream. Therefore you having a reaction from it with your medication is less likely to happen but it is possible. This means that the type of CBD you use does really matter as well as the dosage. It can also interact with some over the counter medication.

For example, if you are on a blood thinner and take CBD you put your self at risk. The risk at hand is that anything medication you take is processed through your liver. When you take CBD, it increases the metabolism of your blood thinner which make it a higher does and leads to an accidental overdose. So yes it is possible for it to interact with you medication. This is why it is so important to consult your physician before trying any products. As always, whatever you may try start off with a low dose and work you way up. I is always better to do to little than to much.
