Can CBD Oil Help With Psoriasis?

CBD, which is known as cannabidiol, comes from the hemp plant. It is not psychoactive, meaning it will not get you high. However it does have great benefits that can be very beneficial for you. It has many therapeutic properties and relaxes you. It can help with anxiety, stress, inflammation, cancer to some degree, nausea, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, and psoriasis.

Psoriasis is an immune disease and what causes it is unclear. This can be very painful and frustrating to someone much less the ability to manage it. Psoriasis can really take a tole on someone life. It can affect them physically, mentally, and emotionally as well as their social well being.  It causes chronic inflammation of the skin and can be thick in patches. The itching of it is very unpleasant and it can progress to arthritis which can involve your joints. This disease can affect children as well as adults. It is not contagious and is usually found on your elbows, knees, or your head.  There are different types of psoriasis and the diagnosis is made by a dermatologist. Your dermatologist will give you an effective drug treatment but they are limited. Through research, I have found out that CBD can be beneficial to someone with psoriasis.

When searching for CBD to help you with psoriasis, it may be best to start with an oil. Typically people take the oil, place a few under their tongue, wait for 30 seconds and swallow. However, the oil can also be used as a topical. You can apply it like you would a cream or lotion. The CBD oil provides a relaxed,  calming effect and works in less than an hour. It can alleviate the symptoms to where you can manage the psoriasis. With CBD being great for inflammation, then it is possible you may not have as many break outs. With psoriasis, the inflammation builds up in your cells and surfaces the skin which causes a break out. If you can reduce the inflammation then you will have positive results.

I came across this while researching and found it interesting. This is something wrote about their own experience with their child. “My daughter has suffered with plaque psoriasis since she was about thirteen years old. In middle school, the top of her hair was so thin that it looked like she was going bald. It wasn’t just on her scalp though, her ears would crack and bleed. Whenever she washed her hair, her scalp would burn and become inflamed. I would comb her hair after the shower and it would make some of the “plaques” come off, but so would her hair. She was and still is, miserable. Recently she started getting it on her lips. I brought home a CBD lip balm and it truly made the burning and stinging go away. That got me to thinking, maybe we should use some of the CBD oil on her scalp too.”

I am not saying that CBD is a cure for psoriasis but it can help you to manage the condition and live somewhat a normal life. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By doing these things it can help to reduce the inflammation and improve your skins overall health. Always consult with your physician about trying anything new so you together can come up with a plan and it can be documented. With documentation of the results, it can be passed on to someone else that needs the help and further study can be done.
